No. It's been around for +5 years and it is the first crypto in history to use Proof of Stake consensus.

Where and how do you do research? Sure other PoS coins can have larger followings but what about their distribution? PPC is a hybrid PoW/PoS so it has had fair coin distribution for 5 years thanks to PoW. Most other PoS coins decide to create coins and who to give them to in their genesis block.

You could say they're owned by wex but it's just how many PPC are being held on the exchange by previous btce users and newer wex users. It was the main peercoin exchange for around 3.5 years. Only just recently has more PPC trading been focused on other exchanges like Bittrex and Poloniex

Long time Peercoin hodlr here. I am thinking there is a cool gift for old people to buy their kids, an all in one peercoin minter preloaded with peercoin, sort of as easy to use as a nano (but bigger if using an rasperry pie). I think this would sell at Bitcoin and blockchain conferences in the short term.

Based on my discussions with my mostly non techy friends most people just are not willing to DIY enough to setup a raspberry pi peercoin wallet+ minter, but would be interested in the investment of a pre-built one.(edited)

I think the concept is cool and displaying the effecientcy is a good idea (my monitor actually does this when it goes into power saving mode and its always an interesting number to view) but since minting is a pretty slow process showing gains would be pretty insignificent.

Agreed Robert. I prefer this over peercoin.chat now. Every time RocketChat releases a new version they introduce new bugs that always seem to affect me. Even the Mobile apps don’t work right. Plus they changed the layout so that new users can’t simply see a list of all channels that are available to join. You now have to search for channels, but how do you know to search for a channel if you don’t know it exists? For example people have entered the trading channel by accident only because somebody linked it. At Discord, all available channels are listed in the sidebar for everyone to see. This makes a lot more sense to me because it’s easier for everyone to see what else is available to talk about.

I don't think PPC should pay an exchange to get listed. If exchanges see a profit in PPC, they will list it on their own volition. If they seek payment, it means they either regard PPC as risky, or even loss-making. PPC must be neither of those things. The exchanges must WANT to list PPC.

Actually there may be one or two exchanges that have FIAT/PPC pairs, but they have low liquidity and few users. Would be great to get a well known exchange on-board with Peercoin, somewhere with high liquidity and more trustworthy. I'm sure it will happen organically one day. To look on the brightside, in the meantime it offers more opportunity to people that are willing to go through the rigmarole of buying PPC

I’ve looked into Binance. The problem is that on their token listing form they require either the founder or CEO to fill out the form. Peercoin is not a business or an ICO so it doesn’t have a CEO. Sunny King is the founder, but I doubt he would reveal his identity just to fill out the form. Also there is a non-disclosure agreement that person has to print out and sign and there is info in this document that we don’t have, such as business number and address. The form is really geared toward ICOs rather than 1st generation blockchains like Bitcoin, Litecoin and Peercoin. I emailed them for guidance on filling it out, but they have not replied with anything helpful.

That is probably what we’ll end up doing. I just wanted to give them a chance to respond so we could give more accurate info. They actually did respond, but it was a generic reply saying our team needed to fill out the token listing form. That leads me to believe they didn’t even read what I wrote. The next step as you said would be just filling it out and seeing what happens.

If they do get mad at you for it you could always plead ignorant and just say "oh I thought it just needed to be a member of the team" or something

I think the best time to make a concerted approach to exchanges is shortly before Version 7 and cold minting. Maybe that will give PPC the necessary "edge".

I think the release of Indicium will also help. In order to add Indicium tokens exchanges will need to support the Peercoin blockchain. It would be a simple task from there to add a trading pair.

@Deleted User It's showing that the main distribution phase of PPC is ending ( in terms of new supply growth ). Peercoin is inheriting all of the old sha256 mining infrastructure from the Bitcoin network since it's no longer profitable to mine with old hardware on Bitcoin's network. Peercoin's Proof of work block reward is inversely proportional to it's Proof of work difficulty. This means as time progresses the hashrate of the network will only increase and dynamically drive new supply to lower and lower rate. Difficulty goes up, reward goes down. Instead of having a "block halving" every 4 years peercoin's block reward can literally change every new PoW block. It's rather cool to watch it continually decline at a much quicker rate than btc, ltc, eth, etc etc.

I got a question on pi miners. If miners are more decentralized due to the incentive of inverse hash power reward, are there any sync issues across nodes on the network, e.g. in the scenario a set of nodes has significantly higher latency than the others?

people probably won't mine with raspberry pis... they're using ASICs (the same make/model as Bitcoin is using since it uses the same proof of work algorithm)

as for sync issues... i don't know if anyone has studied it or has an idea on how to measure it

but computers and networks are pretty fast... i think a message could propagate quickly no matter where you started from

@Deleted User the only issue for node latency (whether mining or minting) is if 2 blocks of the same height are found by 2 different nodes and they each have nodes accepting the blocks. This is usually solved by a block reorganization when more blocks are found. The 2 divergent blocks will usually have mostly the same txs anyway.

Forget the shortcut. That's just a pointer to the real exe file. Find the peercoin-qt.exe you downloaded and run/doubleclick that.

GUI was freezing when I was using the VNC for remote work. Needed to make sure that I could get everything to launch on boot

Its more of an issue of it being a Rpi B with limited specs. The 3s are so much nicer

A friend of mine is a coder and I convinced him this week to start learning to code blockchain software. I introduced him to solidity, but learning solidity is really only helpful for ethereum dApp coding as I understand it. What direction should I point him in to really give him a leg up?
