Has anything changed in the way rewards are being calculated? Or is Sy’s stats page (which I really like
) messing up some values? The XPM/d is almost halved (for roughly the last two days) and I checked my miners - all running (v 0.4) with the expected chainsPerDay and happily submitting shares…
I think Sy’s stats are messed up
This is my address: http://xpm.syware.de/?address=ANKZ8GNu2tpMV8u99dQwWdWky3xk4HrFYE
looks kinda wrong
maybe you can provide a link to your stats?
the only problem i see currently is this: http://www.beeeeer.org/block/204646
i dont have a clue what happened there … this is pretty strange
also, i saw some addresses were switching to v0.5 now
and the average count of shares per block increases somehow
my question would be:
are they using RPOOL’s version (aka Grom’s version) of my miner or are they using my version of v0.5 (for Linux) ?
I dont know if Grom’s version is using 100% the untouched source code or not
my (pessimistic) feeling about this: it’s not 1:1 the original source code

Hey all - New to mining but with the help of thread 485 was able to start contributing to the pool in just over an hour! Sy’s great work shows that I am actually accumulating and want to contribute more but have noticed a problem. I am only using 1 core. What switch do I put in my command line on a Windows box to use all (or 3) cores? Do I use something like “setgenerate true -1”?
Sorry for being such a n00b.
Gilligan~
EDIT: Figured out the genproclimit=(amount of processors to use)
EDIT2: Created new thread with remaining question

The Grom’s version is dramatically faster and its default parameters are default with sievesize being 4096000 and sievepercentage being 38. The chains / d and 5-ch chain / d statistics on my A10 apu with 3 threads running on Windows 7 64bit is higher than a i5 machine with 4 threads, I’ve to run the Ubuntu 64bit VM as the host is 32 bit Windows machine.
This is really strange.

I don’t really think it’s actually that good. Since many people switch to GROM’s version v0.5 the number of shares per block increases dramatically while the time interval per block increases too!! This just means the pool is getting alot of useless shorter chain shares (speaking of increased performance, right?). This is bad!

Damn it shouldnt heppen this Version gets to public … this is my testing version!! it makes a lot of shares but isn’t good to find blocks.
i’m making new release with properly settings please update to support pools.
if you’re really the author of this miner:
thank you for your information. and yes, it looks like it’s really bad for the overall performance (user & pool).

As far as I know grom’s v0.5 build was in some measure ‘stolen’ by another miner who pretended to be a dev also and then released it to the public.
So blame him (and his retarded botnet) and not grom for his talent and reputable work for the XPM community!!
Besides that thank you for this awesome pool, xolokram and thank you, SY for the pretty stats pages (even if broken atm;)!
PS I have been mining here since the very beginning (pool leader but that’s seems out of reach now;) and will continue to contribute as many blocks as possible… cheers!
Please post a link when it comes out a miner who is healthy and profitable for the pool and the miners as soon as possible.
I think a weighting system will be needed. Otherwise, there’s no incentive for people to not use the so-call Grom’s 0.5 miner spamming the pool with low quality shares.
Hey all first post so go easy…
long story short, I’m new to both Linux and mining, so far I’ve managed to get primecoind working and then to today i compiled primeminer
which for whatever reason I cannot get to connect to the pool.
primeminer itself is in usr/bin/ i placed the miner_run.sh that xolokram suggests creating above in usr/bin also
it contains
#!/bin/sh
if ps ax | grep -v "grep" | grep "primeminer" > /dev/null
then
echo "looking good!"
else
echo "`date`: restarting"
nohup /usr/bin/primeminer -pooluser=myuser -poolip=beeeeer.org -poolport=1337 -genproclimit= 6 > /dev/null &
fi
I added it to chrontab also, but I’m not sure how to see if its working at all, the only way I’ve managed to get any sign of life from primeminer is by entering primeminer getinfo which then seems to start it up but just returns
connecting to 127.0.0.1:1337
system:111
so yea any and all suggestions & advice appreciated…and also if its something brutally simple I’ve overlooked i apologise in advance!
p.s just wanted to say thanks for helping me get this far
hi,
i hope “myuser” is just a replacement for your actual primecoin address, right?!
on the otherhand
you are using: -poolip=beeeeer.org (which is correct)
but the log output says “127.0.0.1:1337”
it looks like he cannot solve the correct ip from the dns
try to use -poolip=5.45.100.191
just fyi: altough primeminer is based on the primecoind application it doesn’t offer the RPC interface, thus you can not use the “getinfo” / “getmininginfo” calls.
good luck, report back if something’s wrong / everything works

have changed this but still getting the same result…

i know this will only highlight how little i know about all of this
but if i can’t use ./run-primeminer, ./stop-primeminer… how should i go about launching it?
i’m totally confused.
if you use
-poolip=beeeeer.org
or
-poolip=5.45.100.191
you shouldn’t see a line
connecting to 127.0.0.1:1337
i have no clue

Ok well I’ll start from scratch and note what I’ve done here, maybe that can shed some light on where i’m going wrong
so first things first grabbed thbaumbach-primecoin-hp-a2980065981c.tar.gz from https://bitbucket.org/thbaumbach/primecoin-hp using the clone button.
then extracted it in my /home/user/Downloads
opened /home/user/Downloads/thbaumbach-primecoin-hp-a2980065981c/src/ in terminal and ran make -f makefile.unix primeminer
then sudo cp -f primeminer /usr/bin/
then created the miner_run.sh script above and placed it in the same directory
…so I’ve just done all this again and then changed the permissions on the miner_run.sh and pop 6 cores are now maxed out so I’m guessing somethings happening
is there away of getting back pps info etc like with the rpc commands?
also what if i want to stop the miner?
thanks again for the help!
good to hear.
end the process: get the process id by typing
ps ax | grep primeminer
then use
kill <process id of primeminer>
to end the primeminer process.
your performance is shown in the console output. the command “nohup” in front of your primeminer command detaches the process “primeminer” form a current terminal and the end of the line “> /dev/null” redirects all console output into nirvana. so there’s no output at all for the command you use
if you want some output, remove the “> /dev/null” part and every console output should be redirected to a file called “nohup.out” in your home directory (be careful, this file can be quite big if you run the process long enough, thus i actually recommend to use the “> /dev/null” part).
on the other hand you can check your current performance by using the user stats page:
e.g. http://www.beeeeer.org/user/ANKZ8GNu2tpMV8u99dQwWdWky3xk4HrFYE
(due to the huge CPPSRB update this page is pretty messy and not finished yet)
i hope i’m not missing something here.
- xolokram
I think I get ya
as is no doubt apparent I’ve a lot to learn.
one thing i am curious about (maybe this isn’t the thread to ask in) but how does the wallet work? for example with primecoind i had a wallet.dat which where i assume anything i may have mined would have been deposited with primeminer i don’t seem to have one is this how it should be?
sorry i know these are all very basic questions but gotta start somewhere.
and once again thanks for your time and help.
@ikoki
I use the high performance primecoin-qt client which has the familiar graphical UI based on the bitcoin client. I believe primecoind does similar via a cmdline interace.
This software creates your wallet and keeps a copy of the blockchain locally. You should create a receive address and then set the string [xpm-payout-address] (ref original announcement) to be this address.
You should see any shares you’ve earned starting to arrive after around 50 hrs or so. Since the payout system’s just been changed I guess this may vary a little, but I expect @xolokram will keep things as smooth as possible.
Note you can also mine solo with this client but it doesn’t have support for beeeer.org (or any??) pools AFAIK.
There may be other ways to do this, but this is working for me

lifesaver!
i had installed the client and generated what i thought was the correct address however it seems i’ve been using the wrong one…
oh well could have been worse i guess!
one thing i was wondering though is whether or not i should change my sievesize and how exactly that affects the whole process.
