[MF] Intro to Peercoin Video & Slides

I just sat through the entire thing and loved it! It’s very well presented and informative and I like the use of the slides in the video. We’ve never had such a complete listing of Peercoin information in one place before. Besides just an introduction, this video can also be used by people that want to prepare/rehearse for their own Peercoin presentations using the slides you made.

So the question is, what do you want us to do about spreading this around? Would you like us to upload it to our official channel or just use your video? If we uploaded the video to our channel, we could link to the original video and your channel in the description, as well as add annotations at the beginning or end of the video encouraging them to sign up to your channel. I also have a domain name that I want to use to link to this video.

Edit: Is there a pdf of the slides?

Edit 2: Guys, please don’t spread this around until we figure out which video we want to push.

not a big deal but you say bitcoin is 4 years (30:05 )
i think it is 5

That was fantastic Chronos. So simple but so very useful. This will be my go to when I want to introduce someone to the basics of Peercoin or proof-of-stake!

[quote=“Chronos, post:55, topic:2594”]Project complete! The total video length came out longer than expected, and it took much more work than expected to design and film. Let’s just say that the community is definitely getting their money’s worth.

The right marketing approach might be to augment this video with some shorter 3- or 5-minute clips, each covering a single topic. Due to the range of topics covered, this is a lot to absorb in one sitting.

This is a very good and thorough video! Your explanation of the long term sustainability is very clear, and also your speaking is very well articulated. Congrats on this great feat!

Thank you! I agree that it’s a really long video with a huge amount of content. It took a lot more work than expected, but the final product really covers a lot of important aspects to Peercoin. I don’t even know if it can be called “Intro to Peercoin” though – it’s more like “Peercoin vs Bitcoin: The Essentials.” We need another, simpler video as an introduction to Peercoin!

This is the final product. When I posted it yesterday, I considered the MF proposal to be fulfilled.

Unfortunately, I do not, and this work wasn’t bid into the original proposal. However, if a member of the community wants to take this on, I am certainly willing to upload transcripts and/or translation subtitles to this video.

After thinking this over, and I believe I prefer to just host the video in my own channel. This way, it will be easy for people to find, and all the likes, comments, and views will be in one place. I’m fine with anyone embedding this video into a domain, Youtube channel, Facebook page, etc.

PDF/PPTX download is in the video description. You can download either format from Google Docs.

I believe 4 is correct. Take a look at the graph in the video, and you see the reward cutoffs in 2013, 2017, 2021, etc.

Thank you, everyone, for the positive feedback! You all have my permission to start distributing and sharing the video as you see fit.

Thanks Chronos, I’ll just wait for confirmation from Cybnate before we send the funds.

The video is great, covers the basics nicely.

One thing I noticed was around the 16 minute mark, you seem to say that you need 51% of the coins when you only really need 51% of the minting coins, which is possibly as low as 5% at the moment :omg: But then again, you probably cover that as you are talking about long-term security, not current security.

I’ve purchased some domains for this video. As soon as the forwarding is set, I’ll include them here and we can start spreading this around. Also, what are the ways I can share this video using the main Peercoin channel, without actually uploading it? I want people visiting our channel to be able to find this video easily. What are the different ways to make this happen? You’re more familiar with how YouTube works than I am.

Ok, I’ve spread the video on Facebook, Twitter and Reddit. Please favorite and retweet…

Also, I’ve purchased http://www.peercoinVSbitcoin.com/.net/.org/.info and http://www.bitcoinVSpeercoin.com/.net/.org/.info. Please use these easy to remember domain names to link people to the video. They’ll be remembered and the video will be spread more easily.

I think these could link to a website comparing btc and ppc in future where you can see the video but also read articles etc.

What are you saying? that the blockreward halving is approximately every 4 years? Because yes, that is about right. In the video you are talking about the age of the coins, starting with dogecoin saying “This is a very young coin, it is less than a year old” […] “this guy is 2 years old (peercoin), these guys are 3 years old (litecoin namecoin) this one is only one year old (dogecoin) and this one (bitcoin) is 4 years old at the time of this recording”

which should be 5 years, again it is not a big issue because the story still stands, just for correctness:

It could be a separate page on peercoin.net as well, with the URL’s forwarded to the page, rather than a completely different website. I also purchased introtopeercoin.com and learnaboutpeercoin.com. These could be linked either to another intro video or maybe even the general info page that still needs to be built for peercoin.net.

Well, that took some research. You can feature a video by visiting Creator Studio → Channel → InVideo Programming → Feature a video or playlist → Choose a video or playlist → enter URL at bottom of page. (I recommend using the raw video URL, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2jx1TlkMBs, and not http://bitcoinvspeercoin.com link, since we know the former URL will always be a direct link to the video.)

Oh, my bad, I thought you were talking about the block reward halving. You are correct: Bitcoin is 5 years old! The video is wrong. Fortunately, it’s a small error.

That’s true, and the video is inaccurate here. However, you did not consider that if an attack occurred, the dormant coins may start to mint in order to overcome the attack chain!

Funds received. Total payment was 158 PPC. Thank you!

The video has already exceeded 300 views! The original goal of 1000 for the month seems well within reach. Thank you to everyone, especially Sentinelrv, for the publicity effort!

By the way, I mentioned this new video on today’s ChessWhiz TV episode, and we picked up a few subscribers!

I made a Chinese version of the presented slides.
A Chinese Forum and Weibo account were added in the section of ‘Get Involved’.

The slides can be found by this link:

Thank you! I have added your slides to the video description, below the English slides download link.

It’s going to get even more views once I stick this video in the stickies on Reddit and here. By the way, what page of the website are you going to stick this intro video? The why Peercoin page?

Yep, the first 1000 is just the beginning.

That’s correct. The plan is to use it on the Why Peercoin page, which is also the Investors page. See Cryptoblog - notícias sobre bitcoin e criptomoedas!

Well done @Chronos. You have set an excellent example delivering for the Marketing Fund. Hoping for many more.
Keep the good work going!
