For some reason I am unable to login when using the onion address.

All I receive is “Unknown error”.

FYI the onion address no longer responds and just sits there connecting

Yes, I know. I did some reorg recently and did not hook it up with Tor yet.

Recent events have got me thinking about digital privacy and our relationships with the giant corporations we rely on for communication and commerce.

Long story short: Tor Project | Download

I’m not sure who’s in charge of the forum (it could be me??) but I wonder if we could work on getting an onion url for it for extra secure browsing of our content?

I’ve done it before and it’s fairly simple: Tor Project | Set up Your Onion Service

Any way, I think the forum is the best place for Peercoin communication (not to disparage the other platforms but talk.peercoin.net is the only thing we actually control and don’t monitor b/c we love our users <3).

It’s far from perfect (I could only get it to work over 443 so it complains about the certificate not matching and it redirects to the plain url on log in but it kind of works):

SSL is not needed when using Tor.

Yeah, I need to work on getting it back on port 80 but it seemed unhappy when I tried that last. Will give it another shot soon!

Now with less of that annoying https ssl certificate warning

The onion service has been pretty decent, until it isn’t. I have to go onto the server and reset the tor service to get the site working again from time-to-time. I wonder what version of tor we’re running and if that needs any attention.

Trying out version 0.4.8.14!
