PS Coin (Peercoin exchange) - A New Kind of Market / History

We all know that computer science and the latest information technology advances have brought us faster and faster trades on exchanges such as the NYSE and Nasdaq. As a result, high frequency trading (HFT) has increasingly caused more volatility, flash crashes, and very unhealthy, predacious trading. HFT companies such as Virtu Financial have made a profit every day in the last 6 years with but one day at a loss, at the expense of every one else in the market losing just a little bit continuously. This is not healthy speculation and it leaves no room for competition. HFT companies are predators and regulation to slow trades will only create greater problems.

A little known history… Markets aren’t new. In fact, despite all the above advances in how fast trades can execute, the markets themselves have not evolved with that technology since 1602 when the Dutch East India Trading company established the Amsterdam Stock Exchange. The world was a different place back then. Information traveled much slower. Yet, although HFT was not possible, flash crashing and volatility did still occur “when appropriate”: The famous Tulip Mania.

PS Coin proposes a new kind of market. The first change since 1602. A correct change based on math, designed by a mathematician and computer scientist for the information technology age.

Thanks

Do you offer leverage?

I think it would be a good idea to do so.

Royalties would not have to be derived from the leverage being used (of course), but royalties along with leveraged trading would be a very good combination. Otherwise I would have to deduct possible profit I could make trading with leverage, from what I would get from the royalties, when deciding whether or not I would trade on pscoin.

One major reason I trade with leverage, is that I don’t want to have to much money on an exchange. By using leverage it is “as though I had more money on the exchange” but without the risk of the exchange going bust and taking my money with it (there is of course the added risk of stoplosses being triggered in volatile markets, margin calls etc, but that’s a type of risk I’m willing to take, because I can value it properly).

Interesting question! We do not currently offer leverage, but we have discussed this and we are definitely open to implementing it in the future. Andrew, one of our co-founders and the creator of our algorithm, has actually conceived a more correct way to do this as well, but I’m not at liberty to discuss that just yet.

what trading pairs will you be offering?

Currently, we have the following crypto currency markets:

Bitcoin/Peercoin
Bitcoin/Nxt
Bitcoin/Darkcoin
Bitcoin/Litecoin
Bitcoin/Paycoin
Nxt/Darkcoin
Nxt/Litecoin

We also expect to be able to add fiat markets in the coming weeks

I’m happy to hear this. An exchange which offers royalties along with leverage, targeting professional human traders sounds like the perfect exchange.
