What is New in Peercoin v0.6? Peercoin has been re-based to Bitcoin v0.8.6. Opt-out of synchronized checkpoints has been implemented and can be activated through an option in the menu (this allows the client to stop using the special “checkpoint” node as a reference point when it comes to consensus). PPC need to switch to v0.6 before BTC SegWit, on September 2017.
If it will be before september, we will see a lot of people switching from BTC to PPC

It’s not worth it to try to time development. v0.6 will fork when the code is ready, tested, released, and minters have adopted (if I recall we’re going to aim for 75% for the fork).

The first fork on testnet is done!
We’re still fine tuning and deeply testing the protocol switch.
We are covering multiple scenarios and will do some more forks on testnet before we take it to mainnet.

We are not aiming for a deadline as we want to be 100% sure to fork correctly.
