Peercoin unlock wallet for minting only

I wouldn’t be surprised if this problem is planned to be resolved in 0.5 already but I’m stating it anyway, just in case.
The debug window is currently the only way to enable minting and it requires the password to be written. The password is shown in plaintext so each time I do that I get paranoia that someone might be peeking with a telescope from the neighbouring building. Of course I have curtains and I use them sometimes when it’s security critical but not always as I’m too lazy.

By the way, if anyone of you uses a wireless keyboard then it could also pose a threat to the security of your private keys. Has anyone investigated the real security of wireless keyboards? Logitech says to have some encryption in place but can it be trusted?

In Peerunity, you can use Settings -> Unlock Wallet for Minting Only, where the input box masks the passphrase. For more information, check the website minting guide: http://peercoin.net/minting-guide

Now you can mint with increased protection from telescopes! ;D

That’s good to know, I think I will switch to Peerunity soon. I didn’t want to switch right from the beginning because I want the software to mature a bit, have its bugs fixed before I give it any control over my peercoins.
