It’s been 4 months running a node, and maybe a year without running a node and not problems with mine. But my card is Samsung, but I guess they all use the same chips inside.
Strange, they should not give up so fast.
In next Peerbox release, I’ll move peercoin partition to f2fs (flash memory friendly file system) and maybe force system to use RAM more, rather writing to disk all the time.
I’m thinking of turning this into a peer4commit project now that a link to github repo is no longer required.
Pros:
[ul][li]I would no longer be responsible for storing the funds and could access them when away from own computer[/li]
[li]It would make it more transparent as all distributions would be easier to see[/li]
[li]Easy way for people to donate to continue the project[/li][/ul]
Cons:
[ul][li]Tips would need to be sent to an email address, so people receiving tips would need to post or PM their email and then log into peer4commit to retrieve tip[/li]
[li]The person receiving the tip would be in charge of deciding which PPC address to sent the tip to. This may make verification less certain as tip may not go to the address visible in the photo[/li][/ul]
There might be other reasons too. Will leave this open for a few days before setting it up on peer4commit.
I assume there are no objections to this then? And no one thinks that it would make much of a difference to verification?
I’ll set up the project on peer4commit and test it out with one or two tips before sending all the funds there.
I think it is good use of peer4commit and we will have this great project advertised among all the others.
Let me know if you need help with setup, but I think it is pretty straightforward. Happy to help out or use one of my test projects to test the payout.
It will also help peer4commit with exposure too, as its a project that the average person can really get involved in (i.e. not needing development or advanced skills).
I’ve set it up on peer4commit for brief testing, and tastycrumpet has agreed to have the honor of receiving the first tip
Need feedback on what to call the project, this thread is “Peercoin on Raspberry Pi”, or it could just be a simpler “Raspberry Pi Nodes”. Or “Tips for Raspberry Pi Nodes”. If tips for other types of nodes are offered in the future, the name can be changed.
I think “Tips for Raspberry Pi Nodes” is good. it’s basic, not catchy like “PeerPi” or something. But I don’t think it needs to be. You know exactly what it is with a title like that. Edit: Should we make it clear that its really just the controller? Are any new comers going to actually think they will mine with it?
Expanding on future similar nodes, could be “Tips for low power node controllers” “Tips for Tiny Nodes” or something. I guess if it gets to that point of popularity the name should address the actual goal of the project.

Agree, changed it to “Tips for Raspberry Pi Nodes” on peer4commit. I’ll add something about mining to the FAQs. Also planning on allowing Peerbox nodes soon, just waiting for rel_2 before writing a guide for newcomers.
I was having issues with Tea42’s script,
so I went ahead and tried out the new PeerBox project img.
Worked surprisingly well. Does it still count?
Yes I’ll accept it since I’m planning on changing the rules soon to allow them anyway. I’ve sent the tip, congratulations
To use, just nano/vim or whatever, paste/type that in, and save as an .sh
you may need to chmod it. I just did chmod +755 info.sh
grep might be in /bin/bash for people not using peerbox.
to see if it is, just type in “which bash” without quotes, then change that top line to whatever it gives you.
(I am not a master at bash, I’m actually a windows admin… so yeah, feel free to make it better!)
Also: As you can see in that one screenshot, I’m at 36 connections.
Is there a limit to how many a full node can have? It’s probably covered somewhere, but I can’t find it.
As I said in my previous post (over a month ago) I have this running headless as an Airplay server for my home audio system. As such, it is buried in the back of my entertainment center and hard to get to. I am posting my SSH session that has block count and the Pi serial. I figured if I posted the serial it proved I actually had a Pi. If you still want me to post a picture of the actual physical Pi, let me know and I’ll dig it out.
Thanks!
Edit: It seems I can’t upload a JPG… I select the file and save message, but it never uploads… Maybe I don’t have enough posts?
I finally got back to this…

This still going on? Saw thread for first time yesterday and ordered a Pi to get involved. it arrived about an hour ago and I’m in the middle of the install script as I type.
