Unfortunately there are no OSX package maintainers available anymore.
Some non OSX packagers are trying hard to create an OSX package, however it is not that simple and we are all volunteers.
If you just want to buy and hold peercoins, I recommend to create a paper wallet and store your peercoins on it.

The https://multicoins.org/ wallet is adding peercoin support at the moment of this writing.
So it will be available soon so that you can use it to make peercoin transactions from your paper wallets.
We hope to have the official wallet ported to OSX soon.
