Cool yeah I was concerned this was not going to have a happy ending, but pleased you have access to your coins and agreed may this be a lesson to everyone about where you backup your wallet.dat file … and take many copies!!

I have a similar problem.
Withdrew form BTC-e and the coins are not showing up in my wallet (mac).
It has been several days now, but only got around to try and fix it now.

Withdraw from btc-e u have to confirm the withdraw in an email they send you. have you done this?? you can check your transaction history on btc-e under profile.

I did not do this, but can see I missed that email in my inbox. I have done that now, and the coins are showing in the wallet already.
