Boast how many block u solved, PPS and length of time mining

Primecoin 0.1.1 BETA
High performance version of Sunny King’s Primecoin tree.

which version do you recommend?

I turned my miner off. I haven’t gotten anything since July 10th. I think I’ll just buy some instead when I get the money.

I am using mikaelh’s HP2 client. You can download it from the thread on bitcointalk here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=255782.0

I can’t say I recommend it since it is difficult to measure the performance of these modified clients, but to give some perspective I have found about 4 blocks between 5 computers in the past two days.

CPU: Core i5-2450M @ 2.5GHz
Miner: mikaelh HP5

Mining: ~12 hours
Blocks found: 1 (and within one hour of mining)
PPS: 900-1000

laptop i7 2820QM @2.3ghz
mikaelh hp5 miner

pps about 3800-4100
accumulated about 12 hours since july 19
nothing yet

core i7 4770
Primecoin version v0.1.1.0-unk-beta
pps 5200

24h nothing yet -_-

Sorry for the noob question, but what is the command to check to see how many blocks you’ve solved?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Couldn’t find anywhere to make a new topic on the forum (probably because I’m a n00b).

I’ve been solo mining, initially with the official Primecoin client, and now, for the past 24 hours, with mikaelh’s Primecoin hp5 client from here:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/primecoin-hp/files/0.1.1-hp5/

I’ve run both the original and hp5 on a number of different processors and found the hp5 release increases PPS anywhere between 4 and 10 times depending on the processor.

My PPS on hp5 are as follows:

~750 PPS with i5 M460 2.53GHz
~1900 PPS with i5-3317 1.7GHz
~4800 PPS with i7-3610QM 2.3GHz
~10500 PPS with 2x Xeon X5650 2.67GHz

All the above PPS were obtained using the ‘getmininginfo’ command after the mining process had been running for 10 min or more. Mining was started using ‘setgenerate true -1’ in all cases. It seems that the PPS statistic is only updated once per block and there is a variance of about 5%.

Sadly, the higher performance of the hp5 client hasn’t increased my luck. I’ve only found 1 block so far, and that was while running the original client.

My job brings me into contact with a wide range of CPUs, so while CPU mining XPM is still viable I’ll update this post when I test Primecoin mining on others. It’s more fun than stress testing them overnight with Prime95!

36 hours with i7 2820,16G ram, pps 3800-4100. nothing.

after I read lots of online miners’ posts, one conclusion: one can never get income by mining with investment below USD10,000. I might pursue it a bit more if I was 10 years ago just graduated. Even you invested $50k, what’s your income? USD2,000 a month? That’s a joke.

I deleted the primecoin client!

Mining at this stage is speculation really on the value of the coin.

Mining is never really meant to be a money maker or get rich quick scheme, it is more important for the security of the network.

XPM is a ridiculously early days coin but has soo much good about it that we have seen people go to many lengths to get them an advantage over others on mining it… don’t forget that only really solo mining is an option at the moment… though pool being tested here http://ypool.net/ and it better to get a little something as opposed to absolutely nothing.

Also do not forget that there are developers out there that can write miners from scratch, and maybe they have done so for XPM and are taking advantage of their hard work and skill before sharing the code with everyone.

Nothing wrong with primecoin, just a lot of people are interested in it and mining it so the chance of you finding a block on your own is low. especially when u can see what people did with the digitalOceans cloud hosting… how can one i7 compete with that… you just have to either hope you hit your one lucky block and then you done or pool mine… I know people from the bitcoin days of CPU solo mining only and they had to leave their computers running 24/7 for about 3 days before they were lucky enough to hit a block. Takes time but if primecoin went like bitcoin in price then well there is you speculation

Long live Primecoin!!

hmmm you should have had a message somewhere to let you know that you will need to post 2 replies before you can start a new thread on this forum to strop spammers.

I’ll look into this, but welcome to the forum  and happy mining

I hear the difficulty is crazy high now. How do I check the current difficulty? Also, does the amount of work required on average to solve a block go up linearly with difficulty?

I’ve just rechecked over a number of processors and my PPS rate is down by about 40% on all of them.

I mined some blocks and they appeared on the wallet ballance and then I wanted to send them to one of my addressess.
I typed in console getaccountaddress and to that address I send some xpm. When I open transaction details window it says ‘status: xxx confirmations broadcast through 3 nodes’. My question is. How long it takes? Or did I do something wrong?

Just saw on your screenshot that your Testnet is set to true. I think that may be a problem…

Here’s my Primecoin set-up. Total of 18 Quad core Xeon CPUs. Totaling around 45k PPS on HP8

Looks good! Although staring at your setup almost makes me feel like I’m at work ::slight_smile:

Suggestions to all new coins to be released: release it during northern hemisphere winter so most people at least will have an expensive heater when the mining machines hum 7/24
