Writers for Peercoin on Devtome

NEED WRITERS AND REVIEWERS

OK so how do you fancy earning a few coins for writing articles on peercoin and similar topics, helping people have good articles to read to understand more what peercoin is all about, and at the same time you will be helping maintain buying orders for Peercoin. Interested ?? please read on

Background

I am a devtome admin and am in charge of creating people accounts on devtome. Devtome is a Wiki that is filled by users and the users are rewarded 1 share payout for every 1000 words that they write. The total number of shares in a round can vary depending upon how much has been written, but every round 180 million devcoins are paid out and then divided betweent the shares earnt from devtome and other sources… last round though each share was worth the equivalent of $77 so not bad for 1000 words!! But prices vary a LOT and as does the number of writers. The key is not to dump your earnings but save them for when devcoin prices are high as writers have dropped off from devcoins not being worth much for their time.

Outline

The plan is to put a team of writers and reviewers together that will continuously churn out articles and entries on devtome about peercoin. Not only will this allow us to have another platform to spread the word about Peercoin, but also we can get paid dvc for doing so. This dvc I have been using to buy up more PPC and helping support the price of Peercoin thus hopefully benifitting the whole community.

There are defininate best times to sell dvc and times when NOT to… I was partly thinking we could set one address to pool all the funds together but I do not want to make people feel like they have to do this if they want to be in charge of thier own money as you will have done the writing, but I will set up a central devcoin address that people can then donate to which I will use to buy PPC and deposit into the forum donation account http://donate.peercointalk.org/

Writing

So what can be written about on devtome??
Well anything can be written about (except the usual child porn, threatening violence etc) so long as it is your own words. I am putting my neck out a little with this one as there is very good methods the admin team use to detect copy paste material and if you do so you will not be paid anything for any words you write so I warn you do not look to cheat the system you will be found out and black marked. And I want us peercoiners to give a good representation of the ideals and activities off the community.

Ideally we want some great discussion articles I will post “Article Title” suggestions in a later post but imagine you are doing a University course on Peercoin and you want to come up with 5-6 titles of essays you want to write to investigate an area of peercoin then this is what we are after. Or if you want to write introductory guides to help new users set themselves up with wallets these are great to… here is one I did for building primecoin from source on linux - http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=install_primecoin_ubuntu

Next steps

So I have signed up Nox and Ben to devtome and some other users may be writers already, but if you want to get involved then please reply on this thread and I’ll see if I can get the ball rolling and more details posted.

NOTE: you will need to be a Peercoin Activist to get involved in this project. Hence this post is in the Peercoin Activist board please complete this survey to become a peercoin activist and then post your interest in this thread. For my record keeping I will only sign up people who have posted interest on this thread, I will be directing people who PM me to this thread and this section in particular. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1uJbNEJThRc3TqnwbVVrd__UQWVUOOr4QSEMbMIIF--s/viewform

Really we want a team churning out about 100,000 words a month and we will be dominating the share list and if we save up the devcoins to moments like now when it is high to cash out we could seriously buy up a LOT of peercoins and we are helping the devcoin community by driving traffic through their site with good quality articles.

Team,

We definitely need some movement on this project!

I’ve started my first article, Getting Started With Peercoin on Mac OS X.

I’m about 60% done (and 100% done with getting the wallet client installed, but the next 40% will focus on how to use the wallet and what each of the sections means and how to secure it).

Feedback is definitely appreciated (content, layout, clarification, typos, etc.). As soon as I’m 100% done with the first pass, I’ll put up a formal post on the boards, here, and on Reddit.

Are there plans that Devtome could change its old-fashioned and anglo-centric English-only policy?

If yes, I would be very interested in participating, with articles in Spanish and German.

There was some talk a little while ago, but dev in devcoin takes longer than most unfortunately as they are lacking devs for it and admin users to check and verify all the language submissions are not spam. So don’t expect any time soon :frowning:

What a pity.

I like the Devcoin concept a lot, but I think the administration/organisation could be improved massively. My proposal would be a flattr-like, but descentralized concept, to give the DVC users the initiative to approve or reject projecs. So for example, if there is demand for a Spanish “Devtome”, the users could vote for it to be part of the beneficiaries. Perhaps combinating it with PoS. But seems I would have to fork DVC for this …

Devcoin users have just made a nice video explaining what devcoin is
