go peercoin!!

new here

Hi, I’m Dave. I’ve been into Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general for a long time but never looked seriously at PeerCoin before today. I’ve become increasingly concerned with two things about BTC which led me here.

  1. The price volatility - Bitcoin is a better’s market, and has proved to be very unstable, and
  2. The energy cost of BTC — I’ve seen modelling that shows BTC could consume a significant proportion of all of the world’s available power generation; with consequences for climate change and other horrors.

I’d heard of PPC before, and its use of Proof-of-Stake over Proof-of-Work but had not really dived into the technicalities of it. I’m now doing that and so far I like what I see.

Cheers

Dave

Here’s my second post!

I really like PPC but have my doubts on its long-term viability once PoW rewards are phased out; we see the consolidation of wealth steadily destroying our real-world financial system and I believe the same may happen with PPC should it rely solely on PoS for the minting and distribution of coins.

And now I’m gonna go make a thread about that

Hi all, Jono here marketing chap for all crypto businesses  Currently doing DaDice

Hey everyone! I am brand new to Peercoin and I thought I would introduce myself.

I am KennethDev and I run numerous websites and plan on starting some new ones related to Peercoin soon.

I have some skill with the following languages:
PHP
Java
C
HTML
CSS
JavaScript

I am the lead backend developer for iNoCydia.net (a site for non-jailbroken iOS devices).

That is about all you need to know about me.

I have not followed this thread closely, but I will try to do so in the future.
I just came in to say that for the love of sweet baby Jesus the Peercoin community would benefit immensely from a developer willing and able to put out a trustworthy Peercoin wallet in the Apple App Store.
IF any of you that have already checked in, or anyone reading this, are a developer that can do work in this area, please consider this. Also look at peer4commit.com, I am sure there are already some bounties out there for such a project.

[quote=“Treeshare, post:54, topic:2889”]Hi all,

We’re starting a non-profit, open organisation, to create a sustainable, stable and long term store of value, and we’d like to use the peershares technology to achieve this.
We want to back our shares by what I like to call: ‘real world wealth’. In short, we’re going to plant new trees and create rich ecosystems. The only way for new shares to enter the market, is by creating new natural wealth that backs it. Find out more on our site: www dot treeshare dot be

We’re looking for peercoin/peershares developers who might be interested in joining us. We’ve already tested and created 1,000,000 shares. We just need some technical assistance to make this operational.

thank you,

Dries, founder of Treeshare[/quote]

Looks like [member=32378]Treeshare[/member] chose NXT instead of PPC at the end: http://www.treeshare.be/en/content/treeshare-launched-nxt-blockchain

yeh that is a shame, we really need more developer to just play round with peershares and set up instances, I have been working on one hence I could not get directly involved with Treeshares but [member=28683]Ben[/member] [member=30141]sigmike[/member] [member=31400]CoinGame[/member] and any other Peershares developers you are needed to help the new clients use the platform you helped create… or we will loose the clients to NXT and similar.

Hi, I run https://pppfaucet.com and http://redfaucet.pw. I believe that crypto currencies are the future of finance but IMHO Bitcoin is too wasteful. PPC seems to be the best alternative so far.

Hi everyone, first post here. Still open minded about cryto, so many possibilities, but many obstacles too. Together we can make it work.

I will post in the marketplace thread soon offering my web design services or peercoin. http://phire.uk

Hey my username is circlesinsidesquares. I have been interested in peercoin for a while and made some posts on reddit regarding peercoin.

I am interested in security and sustainability aspects of peercoin and other cryptocurrencies. I am especially interested in considering how relationships between various entities affect the design and effectiveness of cryptocurrencies. Participating peers, transacting parties, state players, financial regulation, and malicious users all affect the success and integrity of a cryptocurrency network.

I think peercoin is a very viable solution to cryptocurrency challenges and look forward to seeing its continued success.

Additionally, I have been learning a lot about the nature of money and currencies and their relationships with government and communities. I identify with the a school of thought called modern monetary theory. Many MMT discussion are not particularly relevant to cryptocurrency specifically, but evaluating the nature and role of money abstractly can be useful in creating effect currencies whether or not you identify with specific ideas like MMT.

Take a look at this list:

I think Poloniex is a good alternative, but that’s just my personal recommendation.

Have you tried www.shapeshift.io ?

My name is Steve and I’ve been studying cryptocurrencies and alternative coins for practical use cases for businesses. I do not own any coin at this time; Peercoin and Peershares are what I’ve been hoping to find a community around. Cheers to the active community and core developers!

Hello Admins and Peercoin users,

My name is Bjorn, I started in the crypto/bitcoin community in 2013. Since then I have experienced nearly all aspects of digital currency (trading, purchasing items, gambling, discussion, development, and primarily marketing). Recently, my developer/business partner and I started a successful and growing Bitcoin only Casino at betterbets.io and while we are very happy with it and the direction it’s going we have always wanted to create an altcoin Casino as well.

While researching we have come to a few conclusions and realized that many coins just won’t work for long term business or do not have the community support behind them to make it worthwhile. I have been aware of Peercoin and even purchased a few over a year ago just to try out PoS blockchain and I do like the idea very much. I also see that there is very active development in PPC and if I am not mistaken it is even more active currently than Litecoin.

So let me explain our idea a little so it makes more sense to everyone. We want to have a successful community backed casino that contributes to the success of an established and powerful altcoin. Peercoin seems to match all of the prerequisites for this to be a success, similar to what Just-dice has done for the “Clams coin” we are hunting for the coin that would be mutually beneficial to our casino and your coin.

This will require investors, a public bankroll/cold storage, and then an agreed upon split between the house (us) and investors (you). We will maintain the site, provide the games/code updates, new features and moderators (which would be great to have peercoin supporters be mods) Among everything else. You will see very quickly on our site that we do not code or market junk, this is a high quality Casino with many more features and games coming every month. I am confident that it could be mutually beneficial to Peercoin, investors, and our team as well.

For us, there are not many coins that are viable choices, Peercoin is maybe one of 5 total out of hundreds of current coins we would even consider doing this with. We are looking for a transparent, amazing place people can have fun and a real use case with PPC while creating a budding community and also shine positive light on the coin. Ideally, new Peercoin investors would be attracted by a high quality casino and exchange volume would be increased greatly with this collaboration, again similar to the way just-dice made Clams into a valued coin.

After speaking with our development team we could have this fully running within a month of coding. We could launch this with an entirely new domain or use a sub-domain on our current Casino. There are arguments for both that would be positive. Personally, I would love to offer a model where users were rewarded with some of the staked coins as well to increase the fun for players on site, obviously anyone seriously interested in doing this with us as an investor would have input directly into the financials.

Peercoin is the first community I have reached out to for this proposal, we will be doing an altcoin version of BetterBets no matter what, it is our hope that I will not have to look further and together we can create an amazing Casino that is again mutually beneficial for everyone involved. For transparency reasons I would like you to see how my partner and I operate if you like here is our bitcointalk thread. You will find a professional team and our desire is to produce quality only.

**forum said no outside links so just google BetterBets Bitcoin Casino sorry

All of our contact info is there, this is a serious opportunity and will take some time to iron out all the specifics (investors, promotions, moderators) but I believe it will be well worth the time we all put into it.
Email me at contact(at)betterbets.io or bjorn(at)betterbets.io directly and we can get to work together.

Best wishes,

Bjorn
