One thing I notice about the entire site is that, immediately as each page loads, it freezes for a period of time. Try navigating via the header menu dropdown from the homepage, as it’s loading. It’s temporarily unusable, for me. Does anyone else experience this?

I can’t say I experience the same problem, could you take a video or something?

I don’t experience the delay either. (tested with Firefox 31.0 / Chromium 36)

But I have a 404 error on Learn → Why Peercoin?

Probably forgot to link it to the right place, we changed a lot of names for that page, will fix it in the next rev.

I can’t reproduce the problem on my Windows box, but my MacOS machine, these JS errors delay the page load:

HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/logos/Dark-Text-350@2x.png 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/logos/logo@2x.png 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/logos/peercoin_ltext@2x.png 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/types/investor/efficiency@2x.svg 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/types/investor/efficiency@2x.svg 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/types/investor/efficiency@2x.svg 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/types/investor/efficiency@2x.svg 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/icons/social-fb@2x.png 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/icons/social-reddit@2x.png 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1 HEAD http://igor-rinkovec.from.hr/clients/peercoin/assets/img/icons/social-twitter@2x.png 404 (Not Found) retina.min.js:1

This is what’s causing the loading latency issue, I think.

After further testing, I can now confirm that the lag is caused by retina.min.js, which is only loaded on retina displays.

TWH, the Mining page uses the same gray color background for the main text as it does for the site header: Other pages, such as Investors, do not. I prefer the switch-back-to-gray that the Mining page uses. Did you mean to do this on all pages?

Hmmm, the retina library was on the site before I started working on it. I will take a look what can be done.

As for the background, it is grey on mining because the icon is cut off at the bottom and it would have looked ugly if I just continued with white. Now it looks like the rock is “hidden” behind the grey pane.

If you wish I can apply it to other pages as well…

Hi, TheWildHorse

Please see this link, which shows three sample webpages, as seen from my desktop computer at work:

The first image shows the homepage - as you can see, the white Peercoin “word”, coin logo and market data are all in odd places. A second point is that I have no fixed menu at the top. Instead, I have the menu button. This differs from what Sentinel sees, which is that the menu options are permanently on show (Sentinel’s version is how I think it should be - the menu options should be visible and the same on all pages).

The second image (FAQ) again illustrates that the menu is not on view. This is the same for all pages, as I see it on my work desktop

The third and final image shows the Wallet page - you can see that the graphic has inflated to the size of the window. The larger the window, the larger the graphic - the scroll bar and mouse are also very “sticky”. Is there a way you can control or limit the size of this graphic?

On other pages, I cannot see the graphics (I get a white box with a small red cross - in fact, you can see an example in the second image). These pages do not stick

I appreciate that what I see is not what others see, but we should all be seeing the same thing. Let me know if you need to know more about my work computer

P.S. I will also be uploading screen shots from my desktop at home - they also have some anomolies!

By the way, RobertLloyd, you can simulate various screen sizes by resizing the browser window. This will reproduce the anomalies that you’re seeing at your work computer from any other computer.

Thanks for the thorough testing!

One bug report from me: In RobertLloyd’s tablet layout, the main dropdown menu has too much blank scrollable area below the menu items.

Thank you for the feedback Robert.

As for the homepage, I fixed that issue already and it is working fine for me… http://prntscr.com/4f906h
The images problem is something I have to look into, but I guess it is due to SVG support, maybe I can find some library to get that fixed. We’ll see.
As for the wallet page, I agree, I never liked its layout and I will fix it.

It looks to me that all of these problems are caused by an ancient browser, do you use IE6 or something similar by any chance?

P.S: During the weekend I will be wrapping up my part on Peercoin.net, doing all changes you have for now, adding a new localization system and a blog.

TheWildHorse, there is likely to be a need for fine-tuning, not necessary in the web layout, but in the text. For example, in light of the BTER hack and BTC-e centralisation, etc., in what order do we list exchanges on the Exchange page? That will require some discussion and thought along us

How do we make those adjustments, if you are wrapping up? Thanks

Well, I’m not abandoning the project.

I’m just saying I will do everything that I can on my own this weekend so when the videos are released and some small changes are done we can go ahead and release the site. So you don’t wait several days for me to implement the localization and the blog.

Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.

Could you provide me your browser details tho?

It says Internet Explorer 8.0.7601.17514

Incidentally, when I visit Youtube, it says, “You’re using an older version of Internet Explorer that we’ll soon stop supporting”

I’m working on getting the translation files to Transifex. As soon as I get it implemented sitewide I will get it there so you guys can start the translation process before we launch the site.

We’re near the end of the weekend, and the staging site still seems to be a work in progress. The image sizes are all out of whack via retina.js, the “9 days before launch” homepage content is out of date, “Newcomers” title still runs into “Investors” title, image links on the “Newcomers” page are broken, etc. Is this still under construction?

Thanks!

It indeed is, I will implement those now, and then get started on the blog.

I removed the retina library, since it was useless anyways as I use vector graphics. Tell me if that sorts out your problem.

All the broken links, image size, sluggishness, etc. are now fixed, since the retina JS file is removed. Good choice!

Looking good!
