RAW chat dump from Fri Aug 19/2016 BeyondBitcoin mumble session

This is a raw buffer dump of the chat today on BeyondBitcoin Fri Aug 19/2016 show.

The show started with hrobeers first. Then came on a few other speakers. After the regular speakers were done we switched back to a Peercoin show.

In it you will see Sunny’s comments. He appeared after the regular speakers were almost done (about 2 hours into the show)

Sunny was responding to VERBAL audio shared in the channel the majority of the time.

The text chat can’t (and shouldn’t) be considered to be in “context”, because it is out of context unless you have the Audio to match. Sunny’s words were read on the air, at the same time they were typed.

The only thing it could do for you, is give you exact typed quotes (taken without context)

For those of you who missed the show. This is all you are going to get until Fuzzy produces the radio archives.

Main show was about 2 hours I think, and the Peercoin celebration show was an additional 3 hours.

A whopping 5 hours. It’s going to take a long time for Fuzzy to get the audio archives posted.

I lost my internet connection, and by the time I got back online the show ended. So I’m stuck with the rest of you. All I have is chat by @intelliguy.

I am a personal friend of @intelliguy on steemit. So he probably would have said anything I was going to type in chat anyway… at least I hope. He’s been a long time peercoin “lurker”. I’m going to try and see if I can get him to create a Peercointalk address.

If you want to see who he is, you can see it here: http://www.steemit.com/@intelliguy

Here’s the RAW dump. Hopefully it provides some value:

[7:44:02 AM] (Channel) JoeyD: I don’t know if it’s too much of a segway. But if it’s not a sidechain, I think it would be a kinda big deal if it works.
[7:44:10 AM] (Channel) Taconator: JoeyD, I suspect that synchronization is not being done for PeerAsset. Rather, it might be that a PeerAsset is a derivative asset that somehow depends on the certain data inputs from other blockchains.

[7:49:39 AM] (Channel) ppcman: taconator thats what i understood. they’re proving concept with peerassets on peercoin right now. but once the protocol is fully developed, peerassets will be available for other chains too. it lives “inbetween” all blockchains that want to make use of it. that’s cool
[7:50:27 AM] (Channel) Taconator: thanks for the clarification, ppcman. That is interesting.

[8:03:40 AM] (Channel) Nagalim: So peerasset consensus is interesting because it borrows the crypto security from its host blockchain. So the only question is proof-of-txn-sequence, which can basically be done on any blockchain. You can also switch blockchains or use multiple blockchains if you can find an external consensus process for chronology between chains. So as long as everyone agrees block 100 on blockchain y came after block 100 on blockchain x, you can switch from blockchain y to blockchain x at block 100.

[8:05:21 AM] (Channel) ppcman: nagalim, which makes it a protocol that all chains can use to trade wealth back/forth without having to own a particular coin. Ie: to use peerassets, you don’t need to own peercoin. You could just be a bitshares holder, or a litecoin holder, as long as your chain works with peerassets as part of your litecoin wallet or bitshares wallet.

[8:06:02 AM] (Channel) Nagalim: you need to pay the fee to write onto the host blockchain. So you do need to own a little ppc to pay for your peerasset txn data

[8:08:12 AM] (Channel) lafona: I think it will depend on the value others eventually place on the influence that steem power provides them. IMO the product which steem/steemit will be essentially selling is the ability to get a lot of eyes on some content.
[8:08:15 AM] (Channel) Pheonike4: every 3.3 years steam reverse split back to original amount.

[8:13:46 AM] (Channel) fkinglag: idea of sustainability seems to be dismissed by lots currently existing blockchains that basically don’t do anything except exist. Propped up by trading with themselves and mining a zombie blockchain.
[8:13:52 AM] (Channel) gchicken-2: much doge
[8:13:53 AM] (Channel) JoeyD: Aren’t steemdollars similar to bitshares bitusd? As in floating on the forex type speculators. So as long as people are gambling on the price swings steemdollars would be able to stay afloat.
[8:14:05 AM] (Channel) crypto-hippy: i forget that new users may have not seen dan’s evil plan post. i’d put it in the steemit hall of fame

[8:15:05 AM] (Channel) Taconator: To the best of my understanding, the inflation rate is dependent on the external price of either STEEM or SBD to USD
[8:15:20 AM] (Channel) fkinglag: yeah the distribution of steemit reminds me of the similar method used for DOGE
[8:15:21 AM] (Channel) Pheonike4: Jeff it reverse splits every 3.3 years

[8:18:06 AM] (Channel) fkinglag: people were saying more about pump and dump years ago
[8:18:55 AM] (Channel) ihashfury: “Currently Steem dollars make up less than 0.5% of the market cap. Worst case Steem Dollars are converted to Steem. This makes it no different than holding Bitcoin which could become worthless in the “worst case”.”
[8:18:56 AM] (Channel) fkinglag: now lots of people have just accepted their fate I guess and learn the hard way
[8:19:15 AM] (Channel) ppcman: it is no secret i like POS > POW

[8:19:44 AM] (Channel) fkinglag: [buying of PPC intensifies]

[8:21:36 AM] (Channel) gchicken-2: what was the decreasing rate that was gravertating to 9%

[8:23:01 AM] (Channel) ihashfury: lol
[8:23:10 AM] (Channel) brindleswan: The 100 percent rate is not locked in stone. The governance model allows quickly pivoting.

[8:26:47 AM] (Channel) crypto-hippy: somebody posted about fb blocking steemit ads… not sure if it was trur or not
[8:27:02 AM] (Channel) lafona: With the concern of what happense once all users are signed up in the future, one could look for steem value increasing from added capabilities/uses of the network. One would expect that any additional use for steems influence or data, (ie mutual aid societies, non violent community governance) could increase its value, even without additional users.
[8:27:47 AM] (Channel) Taconator: @Dollar, some clarification (although incomplete) can be found in the Steem whitepaper at https://steem.io/SteemWhitePaper.pdf

[8:29:24 AM] (Channel) JoeyD: The wizard lets you hear yourself, so you can tell if it’s working

[8:30:14 AM] (Channel) JoeyD: You will not hear yourself outside the audiowizard, unless someone is echoing

[10:30:39 AM] (Channel) sunny: I believe so, as far as i remember
[10:33:44 AM] (Channel) Nagalim: eth does the continuous difficulty adjustment, which was vital for the etc fork. PPC could fork extremely easily if there were a legitimate reason to fork (like with etc). I consider that a huge boon. It’s why I consider the nothing-at-stake problem to be a benefit of PoS rather than an obstacle. I.e. that you aren’t really punished for trying to grow the ecosystem.

So if you want to know if you have any PEARL assets (I made that up), you would review the PPC blockchain and parse all the OP_RETURNS to look for a valid txn originating from the deck creator that credits a PEARL to your address.

[11:32:00 AM] (Channel) ChronosCrypto: lol, singing wouldn’t work, due to latency
[11:32:02 AM] (Channel) fuzzy: LOL yes. we can do that
[11:32:10 AM] (Channel) ChronosCrypto: it would be funny though
[11:32:11 AM] (Channel) fuzzy: but then you guys would all listen to me and laugh
[11:32:24 AM] To Conference Room (Live): one question for sunny. Bitshares bitusd is a tokenized asset that tracks the value of USD, so it holds its value relational to to fiat currency. do you believe that cryptocurrency should also consider peercoin as a backbone currency and therefore we need to have BitPPC too? if so, our community members could get started on that
[11:32:30 AM] (Channel) Nagalim: PoW requires large initial investment to participate, PoS has a very low bar of entry, so it’s more fair.
[11:32:33 AM] (Channel) Customminer: https://blockstack.org/ could implement namecoin’s features on your platform with blockstack!
[11:32:53 AM] (Channel) brindleswan: We sang it for Fuzzy a couple months ago and it worked fine, even though it wasn’t really his birthday.

[11:34:40 AM] (Channel) Customminer: brindle: It’s not built on bitshares/graphene.
[11:34:44 AM] (Channel) Nagalim: Minting (PPC) doesn’t make the rich richer. If you gain 1% but the supply increases by the same 1% you have the same share of the total marketcap.
[11:34:50 AM] (Channel) Customminer: brindleswan: There’s a Gridcoin MPA though.
[11:34:50 AM] (Channel) Customminer: brindleswan: There’s a Gridcoin MPA though.
[11:35:07 AM] Dan is now muted.
[11:35:41 AM] (Channel) Nagalim: as long as everyone is minting everyone maintains the same portion of the total capital
[11:35:57 AM] (Channel) sunny: it’s a tough problem, is there any besides primecoin other than some simple derivatives?
[11:36:26 AM] (Channel) fuzzy: is he cutting out badly to anyone else?
[11:36:32 AM] (Channel) Customminer: fuzzy: yes
[11:36:33 AM] (Channel) brindleswan: yes
[11:37:36 AM] (Channel) Customminer: yes, create a Peercoin MPA!
[11:39:34 AM] (Channel) Customminer: liquidity.
[11:39:38 AM] (Channel) Customminer: lol
[11:39:51 AM] (Channel) Nagalim: litecoin has better governance than bitcoin
[11:39:58 AM] (Channel) ChronosCrypto: I don’t think the rich get richer in Peercoin. Everyone gains 1%, so even though the richer get more quantity of PPC, they lose more to inflation, and it cancels out. If everyone mints and gains 1%, nobody gains or loses their proportion of ownership in the network.
