Peershares - 1st public alpha test release for Windows and Linux

Hello Everyone,

I’m happy to be able to provide you with this first working Peershares test release for Windows and Linux. We plan to have a proper Windows installer, more documentation, and possibly a “how to” video series coming soon.

Windows link: http://peershares.net/builds/windows/Peershares.zip

Linux link: http://peershares.net/builds/linux/peershares-alpha-linux.tar.gz

When you run Peershares-qt.exe for the first time, you will receive a MerkleRoot error. This is fine. It’s just because the test release has been configured to only work in Testnet mode. Once you receive that error, your Peershares directory structure will be in place and all you need to do is copy the included ‘peershars.conf’ file to the ‘C:\Users<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Peershares’ directory and restart Peershares-qt.exe.

Once you have have Peershares up and running, go to the ‘Receive shares’ tab, and there, under ‘Address’, you will find your Peershares portfolio address. Copy and paste that address into a reply under this post and I will send you some test shares.

More to come soon!

Enjoy,
pb

sent.

thanks!

so i’ve downloaded the peershares wallet to test. There was some trouble. I did not receive sent dividends, and I was working with pennybreaker on this test so he can confirm my issue.

Both my PPC wallet and Peershares wallet are configured for testnet. You can see my conf files below, and let me know if I’ve configured something incorrectly.

ppcoin.conf located in %appdata%\roaming\ppcoin

server=1 testnet=1 rpcuser= xxxxxxxxxxx rpcpassword= xxxxxxxxxxxx

peershares.conf located in %appdata%\roaming\peershares

testnet=1 rpcuser=xxxxxxxxxxx rpcpassword=xxxxxxxxxxxxx addnode=54.255.142.16 addnode=54.72.105.68 addnode=54.207.53.43 addnode=54.81.120.250

Both wallets were synced up, and “testnet” displayed in the title bar. Although the peershares did require a few restarts as noted.

so, 10 shares were sent to my peershares wallet succesfully.

Looking good!

I was instructed to now “export peercoin shares” from the shares menu at the top. I received a successful message “1 key were exported to peercoin”, and you can see an example of the message below.

Looking in my peercoin client I now had a “Peershares” address after the export as you can see below.

Pennybreaker tried to issue some dividends to me, but I’ve not received anything to my peercoin wallet, as you can see below. note this screenshot of my wallet is taken almost an hour after the dividend push was attempted.

Any ideas if I did something wrong on my end? Was able to receive shares to my peershares wallet fine, export seems to have succeeded but i’m not receiving any dividends to the peercoin wallet.

I’ve identified the bug and made a pull request: Fixed initial download blocked every 500 PoS block by sigmike · Pull Request #110 · Peershares/Peershares · GitHub

It won’t be fixed immediately because all the nodes must be updated. In the meantime restarting the client a few times should work.

@SirCoinGame fyi i did receive dividends twice yesterday, and seven times today

The same dividends, or was that seven separate dividend payouts?

seven separate dividend payouts

0.02999 PPC each (I have 30 shares)

It was 7 dividend payouts that I sent, attempting to test the feature with SirCoinGame and on one of my own machines. We’re both seeing the same issue. We have received test shares and successfully exported peercoin keys, but our dividend receiving addresses are not showing up in the list of transactions on the dividend sending machine.

This fix has been merged into master and will be in our next build. Thanks for the quick fix, sigmike.

just received another dividends payout

could it be related to the address not showing up in the shareholders list? I noticed my address isn’t there, though I do receive my payouts

Not sure what my issue is then. I had someone helping me with the setup, and both clients are operating on testnet. Other than the config files i’m not sure where I could have erred.

just guessing here, but could there be a fork accidentally?

Well my blockchain for ppcoin testnet was synced from scratch yesterday, if that helps narrow anything down. I can upload a log if need be.

Are you watching the Peershares Testnet with your block explorer or the Peercoin Testnet? I’ll spin up a completely new node this morning, when I get to the office, and will report back on the block height and other vitals to see if there has been a fork.

SirCoinGame,

It could have been that my dividend payouts were too small for our 10 shares each to be included in the payout. Irritant has a few more shares than we did for our test. I’ve sent myself some more shares to test this out.
