Peercoin Weekly Newsletter - Issue 2
November 6th

Introduction

The next 48 hours is centered around a Peercoin awareness campaign. Please excuse the abridged newsletter, we’re putting in a lot of hours to help protect your PPC investment.

Coindesk Article

Danny Bradbury from Coindesk spent about 4 hours with the Peercoin team. Look for that article/interview to appear on Coindesk in the next day or two. As soon as it’s posted, we’ll updated this newsletter.

Trek Con Press Release

It’s official, the Trek Con press release is now active:

http://trekconspringfield.com/press.php

Over the next few weeks, expect members of the community to start working with Trek related website and forums to help promote the event. As we mentioned in the previous newsletter, the first 2000 attendees will receive a free Peercoin as well as tutorials on how to quickly jump into the world of crypto. This is a huge opportunity for everyone in the alt currency space, we’re excited about making the most of this wonderful opportunity.

Local Peercoins

While still early in development, I wanted to send you a link to FuzzyBear’s LocalPeercoins:

http://localpeercoins.org/

The Peercoin community understands that in order for a crypto to be successful, we need to make it easy for people to buy/sell coins.

Kudos

We want to extend kudos to ChrisJ of the Feathercoin community. Instead of just walking about from the Bitcoin Conference - Amsterdam conference, he stepped up and helped organize an alternate event.

This is a great reminder that communities can be competitive while still supporting initiatives that benefit everyone.

Introduction

Welcome to the official Peercoin newsletter! There are so many fantastic projects happening in the Peercoin community, we wanted to take a minute to highlight a few of the major items that our dedicated volunteers are bringing to life.

International Bitcoin Conference - Amsterdam - November 8th

Peercoin is proud to announce that Thijs van den Berg will be giving a speech about Peercoin/Primecoin on November 8th at the Amsterdam conference. As soon as we’re notified of the specifics concerning time and room, we’ll share and send out an update. We are excited for the opportunity to not only speak at this conference but also looking into having representation at six other events in the next few months.

Trekcon

It’s confirmed, Peercoin will be the official crypto currency for Springfield Trekcon! We plan to release a teaser video on Friday with the event organizer and then a press release and accompanying video later the following week. Not only will participants be able to purchase tickets to the event with Peercoin, we will also have Peercoin literature and giveaways for everyone that walks through the door. There’s quite a few Star Trek celebrities already confirmed, can’t wait to introduce Peercoin to a convention full of trekkies.

Details will follow in the interview with event organizer Lawrence Blackenship.

Website Development

If it’s been awhile since you visited the Peercoin website, we recommend taking a look at the new website:

What do you think of the changes? Sign up for free and contribute to our rapidly growing community at the forum link on the main page! Thank you to Super3 for continuing to own this project.

PeercoinMyths.com

Let’s face it, there’s so much misinformation that’s spread between competing coin investors. The Peercoin community decided to launch a site to address some of those myths:

This will be an ongoing project, we certainly welcome your feedback. Feel free to leave us a comment here:

The community has already raised 250 Peercoins (~$100) to give away to members of our community. Feel free to join us on peercointalk.org and offer your input into the contest. We’ll announce the final details of the giveaway in issue #2 of the newsletter.

New Series “The Future of Peercoin - Sunny King”

Last week, the community put together a series of questions for Sunny King concerning Peercoin. We’re launching a thread starting tomorrow to discuss some of his answers with the crypto community. It’s important to not only hear from those that support Peercoin but also listen to our critics. Every so often, we’ll release another series of question/answers from Sunny to discuss.

Summary

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this newsletter. Each of us are putting our heart into Peercoin and look forward to seeing a few new faces around the forum. If you would like to participate in the fun, please join us at:

I spotted a few errors…

“we wanted to take a minute to highlight a few of the major items that are dedicated volunteers are bringing to life.”

“As soon as we’re notified of the specifics concerning time and room, we’ll share send out an update.”

“There’s quite a few Star Trek celebrities already alright confirmed, we can’t wait to introduce Peercoin to a convention full of trekkies.”

“The community has already raised 250 Peercoins (~$100) to giveaway to members of our community.”

Who exactly is this going out to, all the forum members on PeercoinTalk? Also, the Facebook page is done now so you might want to include another section in the newsletter to let people know to go ahead and like the page so they can receive Peercoin news updates. It can be found here: www.facebook.com/peercoin.

Fixed and updated, thank you.

this has now been sent

Fuzzybear

If anyone wants to help add some pieces to the newsletter, jump right in.

This sentence is a fragment and it sounds redundant…

“This is a huge opportunity for everyone in the alt currency space, we’re excited about making the most of this wonderful opportunity.”

Also, didn’t you promise the guy in the last newsletter that you’d include the info about physical Peercoins?

 1. Updated: physical peercoins added to newsletter - thank you for spotting it

 2. On all suggestions, please give me the actual text to replace. I’m so swamped right now, that would be a huge help.

 3. I need someone else to PLEASE take over the newsletter

Sorry, was too tired last night to type it out. I think this sounds better…

“This is a huge opportunity for everyone in the alt currency space and we’re excited about making the most of it.”
