I think it would be a good idea to look into sending out a press release in the near future, maybe when the next reasonably significant news happens. What that may be could vary, it could possibly be Peershares being released for public testing, but whatever it will be I think we can start preparing for it now so that we are ready.
Some other coins have had success having press releases being picked up by semi-major outlets. For example, Blackcoin on Yahoo Finance: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/blackcoin-popularity-value-soars-due-110915981.html;_ylt=AwrBEiE4K0VTLzYAug6TmYlQ. Their press release seems to have been copy and pasted by Yahoo. It is a very poorly written article that comes across as amateurish and I think we can do much better. But it at least shows that press releases can be useful in gaining exposure.
I’ve used this service before with Feathercoin and it proved to be worth the investment (~$100). The press release was sent to:
~500 online magazines
Large group of journalists that covered terms Bitcoin or Litecoin
~ 7000 radio stations
~ 8000 newspapers
Keep in mind, almost everyone will ignore us and that’s perfect fine. All we need is a couple decent hits to move us a bit further. These campaigns aren’t a magic pill, it’s about chipping away at public awareness.
If we do decide to release one that includes Peershares, we should make sure that Jordan Lee has no objections to Peershares receiving some publicity at this stage in its development. At the risk of being sensationalized, I was thinking of something along the lines of “Peershares: Is the age of decentralized crowdfunding finally upon us?” Just an initial idea though.
ppcman has said:
All press-releases include a point of contact (or Person of contact) at the bottom. (This mean's a person's name, phone number, and email address). An actual PR person ready to take questions and do telephone, email, and skype interviews.
In my opinion, if we could get someone to agree to be the PR contact for JUST this one press release, that would be great. I think that these conversations often seem to get derailed by saying how we need to hire someone full/part time. Let’s just focus on one thing at a time. Surely there is someone who would be happy to take a few phone calls or whatever over a couple of days, just this once, with no long-term commitments?
Good idea to focus, it worked with the video, so why not with a press release?
We can at least try to get some coverage. Never taking a shot is always a miss (Dutch saying).
I think it should depend on the content of the press release who would be the primary press contact. If it is about Peershares, I think it should be Jordan or one of his team members. If it is about the official Peercoin wallet or the interview we should refer to Sunnyking’s email address (might be good to give him a heads-up though). Any other developer’s work can be done by that developer or one of their team members.

Hello,
I am fuznuts over on the bitSharestalk.org website. I am also a long-time holder of PPC (and am not planning on selling). Though I love peercoin, I started out my time in the crypto space meeting my friends over there. With that said, I am starting to branch out with a planned Blog/SubReddit/Twitter/Youtube/G+/G-Hangouts and Mumble Server themed “Beyond Bitcoin”. My intention is to help decentralize the crypto-market further by helping bring about awareness of not only Bitcoins strengths and flaws, but also about other projects that make me smile. PeerShares makes me smile. Peercoin’s use of POS makes me smile.
I was wanting to know if we could set something up for an interview for the release of PeerShares and hopefully find some ways to form alliances with regard to the bitShares Decentralized Autonomous Corporation (DAC) concept–PeerShares is a Decentralize Autonomous bank just like bitShares X is, after all!
I humbly invite you to search the forums here: www.bitsharestalk.org and read about what they have up their sleeves. We’d like to help further decentralize the crypto space and form collaborative partnerships that steer society away from a “one-blockchain-to-rule-them-all” scenario…and since I love this project, I wanted to ask if Sunny or another Dev would like to chat it up with us from time to time.
Please respond via email as I only have time atm for this project, my newborn baby and the constant research into the crypto-space that I’m doing. I will try to check back periodically, but it is always fastest to reach me via the email addy associated with this account.
