How often does this map update? https://cryptocities.appspot.com/peercoin-fullnodes.html[/quote]

Hi PiiTan,
Congratulations on your new R-Pi full Peercoin node!
River sends out the tips for this achievement and he has been extremely good at staying on top of tipping, but things have been slow and I see that he has not signed on to this forum for almost a week now. I’m sure he will be along shortly.
River and I founded this R-pi tipping project together and I funded it, so if you don’t want to wait you can post a Peercoin address of yours and I will send to you your well earned tip!

The Peercoin nodes map you asked about is further described here: (I can’t seem to paste the link from my phone, sorry). [member=30453]mably[/member] is the creator and active on this forum. You can ask him or find the thread. Easy way google search: “Peercoin network map site:peercointalk.org” I think the map updates daily but that doesn’t necessarily mean your node will be shown. I’m no expert.

If you are so fortunate that your ip number shows you live in a country with few to no peercoin full nodes already running then I will send you a larger tip. When things turn back up I hope to offer higher tips in general and specifically higher tips for nodes in more diverse countries and legal jurisdictions.
Best to you, and again CONGRATS! on creating your new R-Pi Peercoin full node

Thank you NewMoneyEra!

Setting up the Pi was quite troublesome for me for unknown reasons,
On the first try, I flashed Peerbox but ethernet and ssh won’t work I managed to fully sync, but the connection was always limited to 8
On the second try, I tried compiling from source on DietPi OS, but that didn’t work as well.
On the third try, I re-flashed the same Peerbox again on a different SD card and everything worked as it should ^^"

I checked Mably’s map (his map seems to update only once a day) and currently there are no full nodes in Bangkok, but back when Mably captured a screenshot of his map I saw that there was at least one node. I wonder if there are any incentives maintaining full node in the long run?

PS. I edited my signature to include my Peercoin address

Update: 10 PPC received! Thanks

Wow! that was quick. I was just coming here to say I sent it, to find you already replied you have received it! haha cool.
I’m sure river will be along, read this, and put your name on the list of Achievers who have created Raspberry Pi Peercoin full nodes.

I completely agree with you about the desirability for a longevity incentive for nodes. We should work that into the new tipping scheme, also.

Thanks for your participation!

Added. Congrats PiiTan

Thanks NewMoneyEra for sending the tip, I’m still checking this thread but only once or twice a week, I could ask sigmike to add you as a fundraiser on Peer4commit if you’d like?

What do we do with Peerbox that’s been affected by the fork?

Roger that! Thanks for the heads up

Pretty sure I’ve got this done.

If not let me know

my connection count is up to 16. I can always update that screenshot if needed

Tip sent, congratulations

Thanks. Love being able to contribute. Even later in the game!

I think it may still be early in the game for Peercoin. We are built for long-term. Everybody keep running your R-Pi nodes. Steady as she goes. Be sure to update appropriately. Accumulate a few of these cheap coins here and there. Play the long game - to win!

Hi,

is there a reason why you are so much into the RaspberryPi?

There is tons of energy efficient arm HW out there that has a much
better utility:price ratio then the RPi…

I’d rather have a full node running on a HW that I actually use for
something else (much better chances that it remains online a long time)
then setting up a RPi.

Hi guys i set up my Pi to be a node but i get a strange message, am i running as a node now or not? Am I running an old version maybe?

edit: version number is v0.1.2-rc3-14-gd0cbc83
edit2: made jpg auto dl

Is this thing still going on?

I think it’s still going on. The forums are pretty quiet these days. Pinging [member=30766]river[/member]!

It is mostly because it is widely available and we have written guides for it, so it is an easy choice for this promotion. Nodes on other hardware are appreciated of course, but it would be time-consuming to give tips for all of them.

I’m not sure. If you give me your Peer4commit identifier I will send your tip anyway, since it is Christmas

my peer4commit identifier is iUjs55DBi2TX.
are the guides on the first page of this thread up to date? those are the steps i followed (using the peerunity wallet). It seems to be working except for the strange message. My only concern is if i could be on a wrong blockchain due to old software?

Yes, you are on the wrong blockchain.

It looks like the recent patch to key.cpp hasn’t yet been merged into the master branch from which Tea42’s script is compiling Peerunity. Unfortunately, it looks like the ppcoin git has the same problem.

Changing Tea42’s install_peercoin.sh script from

sudo git clone https://github.com/peerunity/peerunity.git sudo git clone https://github.com/ppcoin/ppcoin.git

to something like

sudo git clone -b 0.1.3 --single-branch https://github.com/peerunity/peerunity.git sudo git clone -b 0.4.2 --single-branch https://github.com/ppcoin/ppcoin.git

may be a starting point, but other parts of the script will likely have to be adjusted as well.

I wish I could be more help; hopefully the repositories will be updated soon!

would just build the latest version of peerunity work after running the scripts?
