For people who are not familiar with peercoin it does matter. When peercoin is brought up their is always an accusation of centralisation due to the checkpoint system. Besides having any centralisation at all hurts investor confidence and investor confidence is what ppc needs to grow.

The plan is to remove checkpoints in the next version of Peerunity. Feel free to put in a pull request

I suspect this mostly stems from trollbox chat wars. Or bitcointalk flaming wars. We’ll see what happens when checkpointing is removed what the next easy go-to complaint will be…
