Peercoin.net: WEBSITE PUBLISHING

Hello once again!

I am in the process of receiving the access to the Peercoin.net server from Super3. Once I do, I will be able to set up the website completely and publish the product that the community has been working hard for a few months now.

As you all know, we still have some smaller textual changes and visual modifications. But all of those are purely visual. And the large addition are the videos that Chronos will create.

Now all that said I propose that we publish the site in the following days, once the header is sorted. (check the header topic) I know the website is not finished yet, but as with all software, it never really is. However, I believe that the site in its current state wins over the current Peercoin.net website any day of the year. Changes such as adding Chronoses videos, and the contributor page can all be done when the page is up and running. This doesn’t mean that I am stopping work on the project (I kinda fell in love with the enthusiasm of the community while working on this project to be honest), it just means we are entering another phase. A phase where we believe that what we got is worth showing, and any changes are only to add to that.

Tell me what YOU think.

I think we should publish when the videos are complete, which is, at the latest, on Sept 8, and could be earlier.

We still need:

[ul][li]Finish the header[/li]
[li]Publish the videos[/li]
[li]Add the Mining Quick-Start Guide[/li]
[li]Make sure all content tweaks are copied over from GDocs[/li]
[li]Update the Exchanges list[/li][/ul]

Anything else?

Me and Robert are talking about adding a “Tools” page under the resources drop down menu. You probably already read our comments though. Maybe the information for this page can be gathered while you’re making your videos. In the same thread I also mentioned adding a page for Peercoin articles and interviews with Sunny King. It might be possible for these things to be complete before release, but if not I think they can be added in after launch. And the team page still seems to be up in the air, not important enough to delay launching though.

Are you going to need details for our Mailchimp account?

Oh yes, ofcourse, almost forgot, just use the form generator and generate a form, I can reuse that.

TWH, can you let us know when you’ve implemented the already-requested changes to staging? That will allow us to do a final review to make sure the content is correct.

Thanks!

I’m pretty sure I covered everything, but it is a bit messy trying to look for changes in 20 topics. If I missed anything, put it in a todo list on gdrive, so I can delete stuff when I’m done and clearly see what I have to do.

What a wonderful statement, just thought I’d give it a bump.

There are a couple things that I know of on the home page thread, the bolding switch and moving the text logo and slogan down just a tad. I posted images in there so you can see what I mean.

Indeed, glad to have you among us TWH!

Thanks TWH!

I put a short todo list at the top of the sitemap document. I’ll keep it updated with all the changes as they come through.

TWH, I’ve updated the todo list. When these tasks are done, we’ll just have to compile the exchanges list, get the videos produced, do one more proofread, and then we’ll be ready for launch.

Note that there are a couple pages that are still being debated, but they are not in the original scope, so they may not make it into this first rollout. These include Team, Tools, Articles & Interviews, and Press Kit.

I believe we are on target for a Sept 8 launch.

I mean to print everything out, and have a fresh read-through … probably at the weekend … or whenever is best

I’m going trough the TO-DO list and I found this:
Minting Quick Start Guide: Add a video placeholder to the bottom

Instead of adding a video on the page, I put a video button in the Peerunity section, I feel like it is more appropriate since it will cover Peerunity.

The video covers how to mint in both Peerunity and Peercoin-QT clients, and it will only cover minting, so I think the original plan makes sense. See the video script for details.

Now that we’ve integrated RL’s suggestions into the Exchanges page, the final draft of all written content is now complete, pending final proofreading. TWH, let us know when the staging site is updated, and we’ll take a look. Thank you!

Ok, will fix that up. I uploaded the changes to staging. I just have to play with responsiveness now, I found that a few pages didn’t work really well so I have to fix those up.

Great to hear that show time is near!

TO-DO list finished. And I also finished the changes to the reponsiveness of the site, should work much better now.

Great work! Two issues I currently see from my phone browser:

Mobile: the main nav drop down has too much whitespace below the options.

Mobile: the graphical icon headings don’t always appear above the text (see Investors page). This is a problem on many pages.
