Peercoin Logo Design Contest Planning Thread

Every coin logo is round, maybe PPCoin can be a square or some other shape?

The sliders look good to me. I had said that the “simple-complex” slider should be at the maximum simple value, but now thinking again perhaps the resulting designs will be too simple to be attractive.

Perhaps move it a little bit, about 1/5 to the right ( --|-------- )

For me, a green-gold combination doesn’t look bad if it’s well done. I searched a bit in Google images and there are some green-gold combinations I liked, most of them being precious green stones (emeralds etc.) in combination with gold jewelry. Perhaps this could be an idea - a nearly-all gold coin with a little “precious green stone” somewhere symbolizing the environmental friendliness? Another advantage of green-gold is that there are not too many well-known logos which use this color combination.

I feel like a comment I made on another forum may have been misinterpreted. My reservation about the “leaf” isn’t because I don’t think it’s very important to emphasize the energy-conserving feature of ppcoin. Rather, my fear is just that the style of the leaf itself strikes me as a little too “futuristic,” “stylized,” or perhaps “plastic” to appear on a long-term store of value. Maybe I am the only one, but it makes the coin look cheap to me. Perhaps something like laurel branches would convey a greater sense of “timelessness” and dignity (and victory!). As a very rough example:

Green/gold doesn’t bother me. The fact that it is a little unique is a plus in my opinion!

Otherwise, I agree with all design application so far!

I will do this when I start the contest. I thought it was too far over as well. Now all I have to do is write up the notes section.

Once the designers start working, you’ll see some designs you love, others you don’t…much of this conversation will be moot. It does sound like an all gold coin would be pretty unifying here, having said that.

I wrote up the Notes or Instructions section. This is the most important part, so tell me if you think anything needs to be changed or added…

This design contest was paid for by the community behind Peercoin. Because of this, it would be unfair of me to guide the graphic designers to a final design all by myself. Everyone that contributed money to this contest has a different opinion, therefore I’m going to link here to a thread on our forum where everyone can voice their opinions and give suggestions. Please check in on this thread and listen to their concerns. Our community will help guide you to a final design…

Rules: With that said, there are a few rules many of us have agreed upon.

1. All designs need to be face down shots of the coin. Angle shots are ok as long as they are in addition to the face down shots.

2. All designs must include the double P symbol, which is displayed on all the uploaded concept art.

3. Please don’t put any text on the coin. The only exception is the double P symbol mentioned above. The reason for this is because Peercoin is a global currency not associated with any specific language.

4. Gold + eco-friendly. That sums up what we’re looking for. The design needs to convey somehow that Peercoin is environmentally friendly. The primary color also needs to be gold. Silver and bronze coin designs will not be accepted. Other colors can be mixed into the design, but the coin must primarily be gold. So to be clear, either the coin needs to be all gold, or primarily gold with some other colors mixed in and it also needs to convey eco-friendliness.

5. I just wanted to make it clear that you are allowed to use the uploaded concept art. We tried incorporating a leaf into our design concepts to convey eco-friendliness. You can either take what we’ve already designed and improve it, or you can start over from scratch. The choice is up to you.

Remember, you’re designing a logo for a coin which could possibly be one of the top digital currencies in the world in the future. That is a huge responsibility. Please keep that in mind as you design your logo. Good luck!

I fully agree with the proposed “notes” text.

If there are no objections, I think I’ll put the contest up tomorrow morning. This is your last chance to say something, so speak up.

One other question. Are there any other requests for a specific image format that’s not listed in the first post?
