New Role - Talent Scout - IMPORTANT

We could really use someone to help recruit talent from outside the forum into Peercoin. For example, I just contacted Olly who created the latest Feathercoin video on his Youtube channel to consider visiting our community. We need to go after top talent and not assume they’ll find their way here.

Who would like to own this new role?

I think we need to be aware of the lack of devs in the crypto community… devcoin was looking to snap up the guy who made the changes to I0coin as the work he did was seen as supreme and would be beneficial to have him work on tidying up namecoin, ixcoin and the rest etc. So not only do we need someone to recruit good video makers, writers, activists etc but also good devs in fields where there is a lack of people, this kind of information may require someone who know some technical detail about what goes into making client changes as opposed to making a website to know who is a good person to take on this role.

Another interesting point is one i discussed with twobits, there is a user Vlad2Vlad who is a prolific poster of information on bitcointalk… launched nuggets… completely failed coin… but twobits was keen to get the user on his forum 21stcenturymoneytalk.com just to try boost users by increasing the traffic. I was always a little dubious of Vlad as there was a serious lack of technical knowledge and he got trolled hard and ended up flaming a lot at people who were just winding him up… however i’m saying peoples views of talent will be different so perhaps someone who is very active on the forum here and willing to wait for feedback from the community after proposing new talents we should go after etc… sorry bit messy post

maybe it is an idea to help people that want to get started with developing ppcoin, to make some kind of how-to, for example, I don’t even understand git, maybe i could dive into coding and become a developer some day, or someone else  , to me coding is like magic, but there are also stories about amazing programmers who say they didnt program anything one year ago, if someone else can learn it, maybe i can too, at the moment im not able to develop anything yet

hmmm yes this is basically where I was as well a few years ago… reading round trying things and now i know more than i did but its a steep learning curve in some respects. A central place to help you try small projects would be cool and i started to try to give some walk through guides on helping people make the jump but the more i dig deeper, the less information there is out there on the stuff so it is either held in the minds of a few of how the stuff works and can be done, or is somewhere on the net i am not looking :stuck_out_tongue: have a look at these guides i wrote here:

I think we all need to be on the lookout for good talent, and see if we can get them to consider Peercoin seriously.

Here is my vote:

David Perry

David Perry is quite an influential person in the Bitcoin community. He runs a popular blog and writes very respectable articles. http://codinginmysleep.com/
He also has an active following on and receives many views on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/user/codinginmysleep
He is a very level headed clear thinker and communicator.
He has been hosted on several upstart bitcoin radio/news talk-shows.
He was a panel member at Bitcoin Conference 2013.

I am not sure how much he knows about Peercoin yet, but I think reaching out to him would be invaluable as his opinion is highly respected and followed by many bit coiners. He is what I would describe as “Excellent Talent”. If we could get him to understand and embrace Peercoin it would be well worth it. He is very smart, and very knowledgeable.

I personally have not met him, but he is deeply rooted and involved with bitcoin, and knows Josh from Butterfly Labs…and was one of the first to be able to test out the Jalapeno.

If we could get him, he would bring a lot of other talen with him. Do you think one of you could reach out to him, and see if he would agree to talking with us the merits of Peercoin? Maybe he could host an online video webinar with several of us connecting like he did in this video:

The key to Peercoin success is getting good content on Youtube. I have read the research statistics on marketing, and currently the top place people now go to to search about something is Youtube, other than maybe “googling” something.

David Perry has already done his own video/radio shows on BTC/LTC
We need to see about getting him to do one on BTC/PPC

We need to get him to do a Codex Nerdicus podcast episode:
If we can get him to look favorably on PPC, he could do a video blog episode explaining it in detail like he does for Bitcoin here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UTcrH21JAA&feature=c4-overview&list=UUPdpuKbSxe1mNIV-Jrs66wg

Read David’s latest article on his blog.

This is a good example of his understanding of Bitcoin and the “talent” he has in writing and communicating.

Maybe we could get an in with him on the energy efficiency issue. Challenge him with the fact that Peercoin is more efficient, long-term.
