Libzerocoin integration for truly anonymous transactions?

I’ve heard bits about zerocoin as an add-on to Bitcoin to give truly anonymous transactions.

If Sunny King thinks is possible to add something like this to PPC, that would be great!

Asking as someone who has limited knowledge of Zerocoin, but who is interested in the concept of truly anonymous transactions, what are the general pros/cons of the system?

As I understand it, the provence of the transactions are integral in knowing if the they are legit or not, thus validating the block. How does one build a system that cannot be traced, while still providing the security to recognize if 10 PPC transferred from one account to another really occurred, or if that transaction was manufactured out of thin air?

There is also CoinJoin:

Zerocoin has been improved substantially (https://twitter.com/matthew_d_green/status/401797786347114496) so that it takes 98% less space (I believe from 40 kilobytes to 800 bytes) and adds the ability to privatize the amount of the transaction. Zerocoin is the most important innovation in cryptocurrency since the release of Peercoin. The lead developer, Matthew Green, had wanted to integrate this into Bitcoin but there isn’t support for that. Likewise, Litecoin has said no thanks. Do you think we should encourage Matthew Green to integrate this directly into Peercoin instead of his current plan of creating a brand new altcoin for Zerocoin?

It is unclear whether he intends to use Proof of Work or Proof of Stake in the new altcoin but even if chooses Proof of Work someone else will fork it and create a Proof of Stake version of Zerocoin. This would be a very ominous development for Peercoin as it would no longer be the best designed cryptocurrency. I would sell my Peercoins and buy the new Proof of Stake of Stake Zerocoins in that case.

Now is the time to make sure Peercoin remains the best cryptocurrency by making sure we are first to offer a Zerocoin implementation. It may have risks, but the risks of not doing anything are quite high as well. What are people’s thoughts on what the risks are and how feasible it would be to include Zerocoin within Peercoin?

What are the risks?

I also don’t believe having another coin on the market (Zerocoin) would be necessary. It would be better to share that technology with any existing coin willing to carry its features.

Vitalik from the Dark Wallet dev team wants to integrate primecoin / peercoin with CoinJoin, but needs help with some aspects of the coding.
