Coinmap

One for the new ideas corner 8)

I thought this was a nice website to find where you can pay with Bitcoins and Litecoins. Obvioulsy missing is Peercoin. Anyone interested to spend a bit of time on adding Peercoin so merchants accepting Peercoins can be a bit more visible?

The github link is on the website coinmap.org

Yeah i like this to,

added a fork of the repo here https://github.com/FuzzyBearBTC/coinmap

and put it on Peer4commit here http://peer4commit.com/projects/84

no reason why we can not add Peercoin from quick scan of code

Thanks FB, will give it a small seed fund to get it on the first page of peer4commit over the weekend. Hope that will attract enough funding by itself to get someone coding for it soon.

Can you please change the description of this project, FB? It now only says that it is for Bitcoin and Litecoin on Peer4commit.com and no mention that this project intends to add Peercoin to it.

I’ve just provided it with a small seed, so it gets a place on the first page of peer4commit. Hope there are other donors who can see the value in this for both merchants and Peercoin holders willing to spend.

With the mediawiki installation Ben had started a coinmap-like service is very easy to implement. I could do it myself.

I’m actually travelling and have not much time but in late May / early June I can start working on that.

I thought it would be nice to have Peercoin as the big three sharing this map and that it is starting to get well known. Sharing the crypto mindset I would rather exchange a few Peercoins for Bitcoins to support a merchant accepting cryptos than to have them exchanged for fiat. The key is of course to get merchants adding their service and pointing them to this to advertise their ‘peercoin accepted’ services.

But feel free to develop a Peercoin specific coinmap service. It is better than the nothing we have now

Ok i have working version here for dev testing and addition of Peercoin, I noticed on the main thread that the original dev has not had any LTC donations and that he was thinking of removing LTC from it, others were asking for their coins to be added.

Any budding graphics designers / artists want to have a go at making me a new favicon like this but for Peercoin?

:pearcoin:
well we have peercoin added to coinmap :pearcoin:
Just need to confirm business can be added through the site, i did a test business by manually adding the necessary JSON so if anyone wants to have a go…

also this is going to be a great place to have a list of businesses accepting btc and LTC that we could target to ask for PPC addition

Great to see this functionality under peercointalk.org. Just need to get the merchants adding to it. Just wondering whether Peercoin will also be added to coinmap.org? And do Bitcoin merchants now have to update both sites or are we sharing the database?

awesome thank you for doing this i’ll add it to the repo and see if I can get it working.

Looks good and thanks for running with this.
But is it not going to be added to coinmap.org? Or is the developer not accepting your pull request? A bit visibility outside the peercoin ecosystem won’t hurt, I guess.

Its still not running 100% so I want to verify this and all features nice, once this the case i’ll be in contact with the original dev and see if he will accept my pull request. There was talk of removing the LTC from coinmap as there were no LTC donations, so if we presented him with PPC donations I think he may accept the pull request more readily, especially if it proven to be working and up and running with no work needed from him.

Still seeing a Litecoin displayed with the only Peercoin test business on the map. Any chance on progress or do we need to consider this project as orphaned?

Ok update on this project.

URL: http://coinmap.peercointalk.org/

I have added Peercoin completely now and businesses can list themselves as accepting peercoins, and they will have a peercoin logo to signify their business

I have also added the ability for Primecoin businesses to list themselves, there is a first attempt logo for primecoin as well anyone feel free to produce a better set of primecoin logos and ill accept the pull request.

I have updated the listings from the original coinmap so we have all the business listings

Enjoy
