Closed: Which 16x16 Replacement PPC Icon Would you Like to be Featured on CoinMarketCap?

#2

#2

Ok, is it safe to say that #2 is going to win this, or would you like me to keep this going for a little while longer? It seems #2 is going to win by an overwhelming majority.

I’m still happy with #1.

My reasoning is that if we go with the green leaf as a way of promoting our self, you can bet some other alt coin that thinks it is “more green” will have their own “green leaf” of a different variation, to try and confuse the populace and steal some of our thunder.

We’re also arguable on how green we really are… Looking around I’m not seeing any solar panels. Especially since our PoW distribution via ASICs isn’t all that green either.

Incorporating a green leaf within our logo was the right move. To be truly branded as Peercoin it has all the elements, which is a coin like Bitcoin, with the green difference for PoS security.

I think our coin logo is fine.

But if we went with #2 and it worked out, I’d be happy. We’ll see…

I like #2, but I don’t like the red -10% text. Can you make that say +55% in green, please?

It is good that the leaf doesnt look like all the other coins, it stands out of the crowd and some people might click and read about peercoin.
Also it just looks really nice next to the writing.

Is there anyway we can solve the bigger problem here, which is that coinmarketcap has tiny logos?

EDIT: I suggested this idea to them using the feature request form:

Is there somebody here with graphic design experience that can remove the white edges and make this icon transparent?

I’d rather not take a job so small to my designer, but I will if I have to. It needs to stay in .png format.

K500 did you use a hi-res version of the leaf?

From:

You can download the full packs here:

http://thireus.com/PEERCOIN/leaf_no_shadow_94_to_16px.zip
http://thireus.com/PEERCOIN/leaf_no_shadow_with_1px_border.zip
http://thireus.com/PEERCOIN/leaf_no_shadow_with_auto_adjusted_borders.zip

I think the best one is the second one that comes from the original one + 1px transparent borders (on the original then resized):

Here are the 3 in one shot…

The 1st one is the original non-transparent version I made. The 2nd is Thireus’s version and the 3rd is K500’s version. I’m having trouble choosing between 2 and 3. I think the 2nd looks like it might have a higher color quality, but then there seems to be a wider split at the bottom of the leaf (maybe too wide) when compared to the 3rd one. What do others think?

Edit: It seems Thireus edited his post to include more options.

Sorry Sentinelrv, I’ve edited my post 3 times :). Did you use this version: http://thireus.com/PEERCOIN/leaf_no_shadow_with_1px_border_16px.png?

The one on my desktop says 94 to 16. Let me download the others you put up now.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I am seriously having trouble looking at all these. I like your first one better than the other 2 Thireus, because it’s slightly larger. I’ve been using windows photo viewer to look at them. The tiny image will appear fixed in the middle of the window and as I cycle through the different versions I can see the slight changes between them. And it’s as I said before. K500 has less color quality, but I think the leaf shape is right. Thireus, your color quality is higher, but the stem gap seems wider for some reason, maybe because of the transparency. Do you see what I’m saying in the image I posted above? Is there anyway to keep the color quality, but lessen the gap so it looks more like the one K500 did? Does this make sense?

Or maybe I’m just seeing things and need to go to sleep, lol.

Ok, here was my original version #2

And Thireus’s version #2

Does it look better with the wider gap or worse?

Yours seems wider. I think the image is stretched to fit in a square with no borders (that’s also the reason why it appear a bit blurry). Let me give it a try.

Yup I can confirm K500 has stretched the image a little to fit the 16x16px square better.

Here is my “stretched” version 16px from the hi-res “streteched” version below (can we please have a preview Sentinelrv?):

From the following “streteched” leaf:

Non “stretched” leaf (original one used in the Peercoin logo, to compare):

It does indeed look better when the original is stretched in my opinion.
